This has been published since 1906, and has recorded the careers of thousands of scientists and engineers. Information given is related to the individual's career and inclusion is limited to those who have made significant contributions to their field. Editions 1-11 are known under the title American Men of Science.

The title explains the content. Written in an informal style, it starts at Imhotep and ends with Hawking. The index is located at the front of the book, and the numbers refer to entries not pages.

Dictionary of Scientific Biography

Scientists from classical antiquity to modern times. Some articles have extensive bibliographies of orginal and secondary works.
